Now, very few people have heard of Geocaching, so I’ll attempt to explain it. Geocaching is where you rummage around in bushes looking for plastic boxes. A slightly better explanation would be “a Treasure Hunt”. Once you have retrieved the box, you sign the log book inside and maybe swap items with the things in the box. Caches range in sizes from film cannisters to large ammo crates.
Once you are a registered member of geocaching.com, you can find and even hide your own caches. So go and have a look…
One good description from a reader of this blog was: “The best description I have heard so far is “using multi-billion dollar US military satellites to hunt tupperware in the woods”. I think that fits best but doesn’t necessarily sell the sport to the best of its ability!”
